The four piece post-punk Suffolk boys, The Futureheads returned to the county to open the first of the 2010 Boardmasters Beach Sessions.
This year, Boardmasters have yet again out done themselves, with their impressive array of names being bigger and better than ever, with the intimate Beach Sessions offering some big name artists to please all.
On the first of the Beach Sessions, there was support from indie rock boys, The Qualis.
BBC Cornwall's Blast reporter Adam Wells went backstage to meet The Futureheads. Click on the link to hear his interview.
Local Falmouth based band, the incredible Tall Ships and smart post-punk rockers, Baddies. All of the support acts had a brilliant response from the music hungry crowd and kicked off the first night of the sessions in style.
The intimate gig of nearly 1,000 people was headlined by The Futureheads.
The band have previously played in Cornwall a number of times, having played the main Boardmasters music festival at Watergate two years ago and headlined a gig at the Princess Pavilions in Falmouth.
Four impressive albums under their weight, the band were on true form, playing a mixture of well known sing-along hits, kicking off the gig with the first track off of their latest album 'The Chaos'.
'Heartbeat song', 'The Beginning of the twist', 'Skip to the end' and of course their brilliant version of Kate Bush's 'Hound of Love' echoed around Fistral Beach as eccentric front man Barry Hyde threw himself around the stage putting on a brilliant performance.
The crowd sang along to their catchy choruses at every available chance.
The Boardmasters festival is running until this Sunday, with Beach Sessions still to come from one of the UK's biggest reggae stars, Natty and from the side project of front man of Reverend and the Makers, Reverend Soundsystem.
