Newquay has rocketed with tourists in recent years, meaning that their sale has become a significant addition to some Newquay businesses' Summer profits.
The items are so in demand that they have sparked a bitter rivalry between No Worries and Hunters, with No Worries owner Dan Pettit accusing Hunters of copying his idea using what he calls “poor quality” stock items.
Mr Pettit said: "It began last year when they copied the strings our hoodies have, then this year they copied the insides of the hoods being a different colour.
"Each year they become a closer match to ours.
"We have looked into whether we can do anything about it, but we cannot trademark the name 'Newquay'."
As a result of the dispute, No Worries has taken to displaying A-boards on the pavement warning customers of "poor quality copies of our hoodies sold next door, i.e. Hunters".
Mr Pettit added: "We have got the designs all backed up on disc with our solicitors to prove that they are ours.
"People want our hoodies, because they are top quality. We have ten stores in total in Cornwall, and people want the best."
Hunters owner David Hunter denied Mr Pettit's accusation, saying: "All our tops are our designs. He has just got competition and he doesn't like it.
"At the end of the day, it's his opinion and he can write what he likes.
"It's not affecting our business."
It's not the first time that No Worries has made headlines, as the sale of controversial tops bearing the word "lifeguard" were condemned by the RNLI in national newspapers last year.
